I love making bags. I’m a pragmatist at heart and I think the idea of making something that you can immediately put into use always appeals to me. One of my first ever sewing projects was a really simple grocery bag – a BurdaStyle classic called Charlie. It’s very practical but the finish is a little rough around the edges because basically it’s designed to be kept at the bottom of your handbag. Then recently I noticed that another BurdaStyle member had uploaded a pattern for a very similar style bag but it’s…. reversible! Still just as practical but this one’s more likely to win in a beauty contest. I really enjoyed making it and I think I’ll probably be making a few more to hand out as gifts.

Almost looks like a real thing you can buy from a shop!
Okay I’ll take one.

Oooh well done you! My sewing skills don’t amount to much so I think mine would be rather misshapen ;)
